Ensuring participant safety: Monitoring participants' physical condition, administering first aid when necessary, and making timely decisions regarding route adjustments or trip modifications due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Maintaining group morale: Creating a positive and supportive environment for all participants, addressing any conflicts, and encouraging teamwork and camaraderie.
Navigation and route planning: Utilizing maps, compasses, GPS devices, and other navigational tools to plan and execute safe and efficient routes.
Equipment management: Checking and maintaining group equipment, ensuring its proper functioning, and instructing participants on its proper use.
Wilderness skills instruction: Providing basic instruction in wilderness survival skills, such as fire building, water purification, shelter construction, and basic first aid.
Environmental stewardship: Educating participants on Leave No Trace principles and promoting responsible environmental practices.
Trip reporting and documentation: Completing post-trip reports, documenting any incidents, and providing feedback to improve future trips.
Customer service: Providing excellent customer service, addressing participant concerns, and ensuring a positive and memorable experience for all.
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:
Extensive hiking and backpacking experience: Minimum of [Number] years of experience leading guided trips or demonstrating significant independent backpacking experience in diverse terrains and weather conditions.
