1. Gather your materialsBefore you start, you'll need to gather a few materials:* Charcoal or propane
* Lighter fluid or a gas lighter
* Long matches or a lighter with a long handle
* A fire starter (optional)
2. Prepare your grillIf you're using a charcoal grill, you'll need to start by preparing the charcoal. Open the bottom vent and remove the cooking grate. Then, spread the charcoal evenly over the bottom of the grill.
If you're using a gas grill, you'll need to connect the propane tank and turn on the gas. Then, turn the knobs to the "high" setting.
3. Start the fireIf you're using charcoal, you can start the fire using lighter fluid or a fire starter. To use lighter fluid, pour a small amount onto the charcoal and then light it with a long match or lighter. To use a fire starter, place it in the center of the charcoal and light it.
