Outdoor Education Lesson Plan: Skydiving and Skiing365
Grade Level: 9-12
Subject: Physical Education / Outdoor Education
Time: 2 full days
Objectives:
Students will be able to demonstrate proper skydiving and skiing techniques.
Students will be able to identify and evaluate risks associated with skydiving and skiing.
Students will be able to develop a plan for safe and enjoyable skydiving and skiing experiences.
Materials:
Skydiving gear (harnesses, parachutes, helmets)
Skis and ski boots
Safety ropes
First aid kits
Day 1: Skydiving
Morning: Classroom session on skydiving safety, equipment, and techniques. Students will learn about the different types of skydives, how to pack a parachute, and how to land safely.
Afternoon: Practical skydiving session at a local skydiving center. Students will have the opportunity to practice their skills in a controlled environment.
Day 2: Skiing
Morning: Classroom session on skiing safety, equipment, and techniques. Students will learn about the different types of skis, how to adjust bindings, and how to ski safely on different terrains.
Afternoon: Practical skiing session at a local ski resort. Students will have the opportunity to practice their skills on slopes of varying difficulty.
Assessment:
Students will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate proper skydiving and skiing techniques.
Students will be assessed on their ability to identify and evaluate risks associated with skydiving and skiing.
Students will be assessed on their ability to develop a plan for safe and enjoyable skydiving and skiing experiences.
Extension Activities:
Students can research the history of skydiving and skiing.
Students can interview skydiving and skiing professionals.
Students can create a safety plan for their next skydiving or skiing trip.
Safety Precautions:
All skydiving and skiing activities should be supervised by a qualified instructor.
Students should wear appropriate safety gear at all times.
Students should be aware of the risks associated with skydiving and skiing and should take steps to minimize those risks.
