What we’re looking for in our Hiking Experts:

Essential Skills and Experience:
Extensive Hiking Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in various hiking terrains (mountains, forests, deserts, etc.) is required. Experience leading groups is highly desirable.
Exceptional Navigation Skills: Proficiency in using maps, compasses, GPS devices, and altimeters is crucial. You must be able to navigate confidently and accurately in challenging conditions, including low visibility and unfamiliar terrain.
First Aid and Wilderness Survival Skills: Holding a current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or equivalent certification is mandatory. Extensive knowledge of wilderness survival techniques, including shelter building, fire starting, and water purification, is essential.
Physical Fitness and Stamina: This role demands excellent physical fitness and stamina. You must be able to hike for extended periods, carrying a backpack with necessary gear, in varying weather conditions.
Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: You will be interacting with clients of diverse backgrounds and experience levels. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are vital for creating a positive and safe group dynamic.
Risk Assessment and Management: The ability to assess and mitigate risks effectively is paramount. You must be able to make informed decisions in challenging situations to ensure the safety and well-being of the group.
Environmental Awareness and Stewardship: We are committed to responsible environmental practices. You should demonstrate a strong understanding of Leave No Trace principles and be passionate about protecting the natural environment.

Desirable Skills and Experience:
Experience with rock climbing or mountaineering techniques.
Knowledge of local flora and fauna.
Photography skills to capture stunning images of the hiking trails.
Experience with guiding diverse groups, including families and individuals with varying fitness levels.
Bilingual capabilities (especially Spanish, French, or Mandarin).
Experience with trip planning and logistics.
Valid driver's license and comfortable driving 4x4 vehicles.

Responsibilities:
Leading and guiding hiking tours and expeditions.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
Providing engaging and informative commentary about the natural environment.
Maintaining a clean and organized campsite (when applicable).
Preparing and packing all necessary gear and equipment.
Collaborating with the team to plan and execute successful trips.
Participating in pre-trip briefings and post-trip debriefings.
Maintaining accurate records and reports.
Promoting a positive and inclusive group dynamic.
